In winning Super Bowl LVI, the Los Angeles Rams managed to carve a bit of history for the franchise after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 on February 13, 2022.

Indeed, whilst many of the Bengals’ young players may not have been feeling the festivities of the day after – Valentines’ Day – there will have been many in Southern California who will have been full of love and would have been rejoicing after what they had managed to achieve on the field.

Of course, Super Bowl LVI was played at SoFi Stadium, therefore providing the Rams with a familiar stomping ground as the $5 billion venue in Inglewood, California, is the venue in which the team regularly plays their home fixtures following the decision to build it and move the team back to Los Angeles by team owner Stan Kroenke.

In doing so, it became the first time that the team had managed to win the Super Bowl as a team from the city, although it was the second time that they had won it in their franchise history; the other came back in the 1999 NFL season when they were based in Missouri and known as the St. Louis Rams.

Many would have predicted it would be the Los Angeles Rams to win

Prior to the beginning of Super Bowl LVI, many would have been expecting the Rams to go on and win the game when they took to the field against the Bengals.

This would have been down to a couple of different factors, with the home advantage as we highlighted earlier perhaps being one of the biggest. However, when you consider what the team did in order to reach the main game in regard to its roster, then there might not have been too much shock or surprise in the final result.

Let’s remember, Sean McVay’s team went all out with the player acquisitions that they made at the beginning and throughout the NFL 2021 season, with the team managing to bring in personnel who only further strengthened an already strong roster.

Los Angeles Rams made history at Super Bowl LVI

Whilst the team already had star players on either side of the ball including Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and Cooper Kupp – who actually became a star throughout the season – they also added experienced players like quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and linebacker Von Miller to bolster their stacked squad.

Of course, they lost OBJ early in the game, whilst they required Stafford and Kupp to come up big in the team’s final drive of the game to ensure that the Super Bowl would be coming to Los Angeles. In doing so, McVay managed to make Super Bowl history as he became the youngest coach to win the Vince Lombardi trophy at just 36.

Naturally, there will be many that will be wondering if the LA Rams will be able to repeat their success in this year’s upcoming NFL season, especially as the sports betting industry continues to sweep across the nation.

Those that visit Super Bowl betting sites will find a number of interesting odds available for the upcoming season and will find that there are a number of different teams in contention as potential winners.

As we know, it is historically difficult to repeat successes such as winning the Vince Lombardi trophy back-to-back, which is perhaps why some are favoring teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, the Green Bay Packers, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following Tom Brady’s decision to call a U-Turn on his retirement, but do the LA Rams actually have a real chance of doing so?

Can the Los Angeles Rams repeat their Super Bowl LVI success?

Whether the LA Rams can repeat last season’s success and head to Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona next February is perhaps the million-dollar question for so many around the NFL and those that may consider looking at who to wager on.

As highlighted already, it is notoriously difficult to repeat such a monumental feat, whilst there is no denying that the organization had a mentality of last year being all-or-bust, especially after making the trades that they did for players including Stafford, Beckham Jr., and Miller.

Indeed, we might be in a better position to determine what McVey’s team’s chances are of retaining the Super Bowl once the NFL Draft as we will get to see which rookies they will bring in. Others might suggest that waiting until the Tuesday after Week 10 of the season could be the best indicator as this is when the free agency period comes to an end.

Regardless, the organization has a number of holes that they need to address in certain positions, which is why it might be hard to suggest that they will repeat February’s success.

What has happened to the Los Angeles Rams since its Super Bowl LVI victory?

McVey and general manager, Les Snead, are going to have a lot to do this offseason as they lost a number of players due to free agency, cuts, and even retirement.

Perhaps most notably, Miller has since joined the Buffalo Bills whilst veteran tackle Andrew Whitworth has decided to retire after being able to accomplish everything that he had wanted to achieve in his career. Furthermore, Robert Woods has been traded (Tenessee Titans) as has Darious Williams (Jacksonville Jaguars), Johnny Hekker (Carolina Panthers), and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (Houston Texans).

Nonetheless, the back office has already worked hard and has managed to start to replace some of these individuals with further star power, including the acquisition of Bobby Wagner after he was let go from NFC West divisional rivals, the Seattle Seahawks! An experienced 10-year veteran of the NFL after being drafted in 2012, Wagner has repeatedly been considered one of the best linebackers to have ever played football!

To add to his arrival, the Rams have also managed to add experienced punter Riley Dixon to replace the departed Hekker, whilst they have also re-signed Brandon Powell to keep their wide receiver options as strong as possible.

Final Thoughts?

After making history following their Super Bowl LVI success, the Los Angeles Rams will be hoping that they can continue to do so. There are other teams that will be in the hunt, but given the acquisitions that they have made to try and offset the departures experienced, there is every chance that they can return to the top game in Glendale, Arizona next year. Perhaps, though, they will need to get the draft right to stand an even greater chance.
